The percentage of learners passing the physical science component of the South African national senior certificate exams with 40% or more has increased from 20.6% in 2009 to 51.1% in 2023. The highest percentage of matrics who passed their physical science exams with 40% or more was the class of 2019 with a 51.7% pass rate.
